Update on McKinney Airport with McKinney Mayor George Fuller

Thank you Angie Johnson for taking the notes on this meeting with McKinney Mayor George Fuller at our Keller Williams office in Allen.
  • Next year commercial flights will begin.
  • The airline that they have a partnership with will most likely make it public this June which will release the city of McKinney from the NDA so that they can talk about it.
  • There will be 6-8 commercial passenger flights per day with 5 gates.
  • 2,000-3,000 people will visit the airport each day. The McKinney HEB gets 25,000 on a Saturday.
  • The number of small aircraft flying out of the airport will be greatly reduced once commercial flights use that airspace.
  • The commercial planes climb to a higher elevation quicker so the noise is less than the low flying planes.
  • The flight path will turn to fly over Lake Lavon
  • Also mentioned was the Sunset Amphitheater which is super interesting. The developer is really into music and wanted the concert experience to be more like a sporting event experience. They are going to build like 10 venues across the country but the one at 75 and 121 will be the flagship. It will be somewhat immersive with multiple screens going around it which will also aid in a cooling system it will have to help with the Texas summer heat. Here is a link for more information.
