Allen is a wonderful blend of the old and the new. Did you know Allen, Texas was the location of our Texas’s first train robbery by the Sam Bass gang? Allen was also a stopping point for other famous outlaws like the Quantrell gang.
Allen’s new $60 million dollar football stadium, thought to be the most expensive high school stadium in America. It’s also home to the 2012 and 2013 Texas State 5A champions!
Things To Do
A beautiful retail center with creek running through it, Watters Creek is located at the Southwest Corner of Central Expressway (Hwy 75) and Bethany Rd. Bethany Rd is one of the two main thoroughfares leading to Lucas from Allen. This impressive retail center is no more than 15 minutes from any point in Lucas.
This development actually reminds me quite a bit of Vail Village with the stream running through the middle of it. You’ll find lots of high end retail shops and great restaurants like Grimmaldi’s Pizza, Mi Cocina, PF Changs, Bonnie Ruth’s, etc.
In the summer, there are live bands on the lawn every Saturday night. Watters Creek is very kid friendly and always has something going on for them. At Christmas, they bring out the lights in the trees and it’s really spectacular.
The Courses at Watters Creek
The 18-hole “Traditions” course at the The Courses At Watters Creek facility in Plano, Texas features 6,773 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 .
Dan Rodenbaugh Natatorium
This complex is used by the Allen Swim Team, but there is much more to it than that. It is also open to all Allen residents. Yearly family memberships are very reasonable. And the young ones will love the lazy river and water park. It also has a nice workout room upstairs, shower facilities and lockers, an aerobic exercise room, and party rooms. This is the best deal going!
The Edge Skate Park
I have no idea how much this park cost, but it is FIRST CLASS! There is no fee for use of the outside, lighted facilities (2 full size roller hockey arenas, a large dirt bike path, and two large skate board and bike areas). To go inside the building (for television, computer room, pool, ping pong, etc.), it is only $10 per year for Allen residents and $20 for non-residents of Allen.
The Village at Allen
Located at the Southeast Corner of Stacy Road and Central Expressway, the Village at Allen feature over 150 stores and restaurants, hotel and entertainment options.
